Based on a Board announcement made in November 2022 at the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, the NAMA Facility launched the Mitigation Action Facility (mitigation-action.org), with the new brand going into effect on 1 April 2023. The Mitigation Action Facility bears a new logo, with the shape resembling a windmill as a symbol of a carbon-neutral future and the colour gradient emphasising efforts to raise ambition and trigger transformational change.
The rebranding restates the Mitigation Action Facility’s commitment to fund ambitious climate change mitigation projects to implement Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and long-term strategies (LTS) that are central to meeting the Paris Agreement goals. The Facility primarily focuses on three priority sectors – energy, transport and industry, but remains open to cross-sectoral projects linked to one of the priority sectors. Read the press release from November 2022 for detailed information on the Facility’s future direction, as announced at COP27. The Mitigation Action Facility will continue holding annual competitive Calls for Projects and will launch the Call for Projects 2023 on 2 June at the occasion of a Global NDC Conference side event in Berlin, Germany. The upcoming Call will have a funding volume of up to EUR 100 million. A newly added Project Concept Phase will be open for 2 months from 2 June until 31 July.
Further details including the Call timeline are available under Current Call. In advance of the Call launch, the Technical Support Unit (TSU) also invites interested Applicants to join its webinar series.
