We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Project Concepts submission, the first step of the Call for Projects 2023. The current Call was announced in November 2022 at a COP27 side event in Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt. The Call having a funding volume of up to EUR 100 million, was launched at the Mitigation Action Facility side event during the Global NDC Conference on 2 June 2023.

The Open Application Platform (OAP), a web-based application tool designed to facilitate the submission of Project Concepts, has been accessible to applicants from 2 June until 31 July at 3 p.m. CEST. The OAP provided a user-friendly interface that allowed Applicants to work on their Project Concepts progressively. This feature enabled them to save information, revisit, and refine their Concepts as needed before the final submission.

For content-related inquiries and clarifications on the project cycle and Call process overall, Applicants were encouraged to reach out to contact@mitigation-action.org. The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the Mitigation Action Facility published FAQs and three Clarification Notes based on these queries. Additionally, three webinars were held between April and July 2023 (before the launch of the Call and during the submission period), ensuring Applicants comprehensively understood the application process and requirements.

Call statistics:

– Total number of registered OAP users: 590

– Number of Project Concepts submitted by the closure of the Call: 327*

*All Concepts submitted are subject to a further eligibility check.

The submitted Project Concepts will now undergo a thorough assessment process. Selected Project Concepts to advance to the Project Outline Phase will be duly notified as soon as the Board of the Mitigation Action Facility takes the corresponding decision. Non-selected Project Concepts will receive a respective notification too. Please note that Applicants are advised to abstain from requests regarding the status of their Project Concept submissions during the assessment period.

The Mitigation Action Facility extends its gratitude to all the enthusiastic Applicants who submitted their Project Concepts. For further updates and announcements on the Call for Projects 2023, please stay tuned to our website and official social media channels.
