The NAMA Facility participated in the SBI work programme to further the understanding of the diversity of NAMAs during COP 19

At COP18, a work programme to further the understanding of the diversity of NAMAs was agreed. The work programme will be implemented over the course of 2013 and 2014.

During COP 19 in Warsaw two in-session workshops were held at which country parties, the UNFCCC Secretariat and other relevant institutions reported on the current status of NAMAs.

A central focus has been on the support needs and options for international support. One of the central pillars of the work programme is to match mitigation actions with financial, technology and capacity building support.

This discussion has often focused on the NAMA registry and its use in facilitating support. A presentation on NAMA Facility activities also addressed this issue.

The NAMA registry lists the support available under the NAMA Facility. A core objective of the NAMA Facility is to actively engage in the international climate talks, to provide funding for ambitious NAMAs that are ready to advance to the implementation stage and to encourage countries to develop these kinds of measures.
