The Mitigation Action Facility opens its Call for Projects 2024 at COP28

December 14, 2023

Global attention was on Dubai over the last two weeks, with COP28 bringing the world’s most important climate priorities into focus. At this pivotal gathering, the Mitigation Action Facility made its presence felt with a dedicated side event at the NDC Partnership Pavilion.

Taking place on 06 December 2023, “Driving Sectoral Decarbonisation Through Global Mitigation Efforts” united the Facility’s Donor representatives with a panel of experts to focus on issues surrounding sectoral decarbonisation, mitigation, and climate finance.

At the event, the two keynote speakers, UK Minister for Energy, Graham Stuart MP and German Parliamentary State Secretary, Stefan Wenzel made a number of significant announcements:

  1. The Call for Projects 2024 is now open. Project Concepts can be submitted via our Open Application Platform (OAP) until 29 February 2024. You can find more information on applying and supporting materials here.
  2. The Mitigation Action Facility has established an Advisory Committee. This Committee is made up of climate experts from around the world and will advise the board on strategic aspects and enrich the public appearance of the Facility.
  3. The UK and German governments renewed their pledges to the Facility for 2024.

The event marked a crucial moment for the Facility, as we continue our mission to drive scalable and replicable solutions in ODA-eligible partner countries. This is also underlined by the strategic cooperation of the Facility with the NDC Partnership and UNFCCC.
