The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the NAMA Facility started its work at the end of June 2013.

The TSU is comprised of staff from KfW Development Bank and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Those two bodies are commissioned by the NAMA Facility Board to implement the NAMA Facility.

The NAMA Facility Board, comprising representatives of DECC and BMUB as founders and funders of the NAMA Facility, is the Facility’s central decision-making body. It takes all key decisions related to strategy, guidelines and the selection of NAMA Support Projects. The TSU functions as the NAMA Facility Secretariat, which supports the Facility Board in all aspects related to Facility management.

This includes evaluating the submitted NAMA Support Project Outlines based on the Facility’s eligibility and ambition criteria. These evaluations, which are subject to an external evaluation to ensure impartiality, support the Facility Board in selecting the most ambitious and well-developed NAMA Support Projects for funding.

Furthermore, the TSU functions as a focal point for partner governments, delivery organisations and other stakeholders. It is responsible for the development of processes and documents with regard to the overall project cycle of the NAMA Facility, financial reporting, the set-up of the M&E Framework, the assessment of NAMA Support Project reviews and reviewing the Facility’s performance.
