The NAMA Facility Board selected four projects from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Indonesia for funding based on a transparent and competitive selection process. All projects submitted during the first call were evaluated using pre-determined selection criteria, which ensured that the most ambitious and transformational NAMAs would be selected for funding.

The selected projects were announced during a side-event at the margins of COP 19 in Warsaw in November 2013. Government representatives presented the successful NAMA Support Projects to a very receptive audience. In addition, a representative of the Mexican Environmental Ministry presented the current status of the Mexican EcoCasa NAMA and the progress made over the last year. The Mexican NAMA on Sustainable Housing was announced as a pilot project under the NAMA Facility during last year’s COP in Doha. Its implementation is being supported by KfW and Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The joint British-German NAMA Facility was met with great interest by country representatives and practitioners as the first of its kind to offer tailor-made funding for implementing NAMAs and for defining criteria for funding by international donors. During the side-event around 150 participants discussed the individual NAMA activities presented and the processes and criteria of the Facility.
