On 30 April 2022, the Ambition Initiative – Round Two Call for the submission of NAMA Support Project (NSP) Outlines closed. Much like the Ambition Initiative Call, which ran from 13 December 2020 to 31 May 2021, this special initiative targets an even higher level of ambition than previous Calls. It aims to support countries in the implementation of their enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and to build back greener as they recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. The UK and German government, alongside the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), have committed up to EUR 100 million to Ambition Initiative – Round Two.

The NAMA Facility is pleased to announce that 40 Outlines were submitted as part of Ambition Initiative – Round Two by various actors, including national governments supported by their partners such as multilateral agencies, international financial institutions, NGOs, and commercial entities.

Submissions to the Ambition Initiative Call – Round Two came from Latin America and Caribbean (37%), Africa (35%), Asia and Pacific (20%), and Europe (8%). In terms of sectors, 33% of submissions represented the sector of renewable energy, 27% – Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU), followed by energy efficiency (20%), transport and waste, with 10% each. More information about the statistics of the Ambition Initiative – Round Two Outline submissions is available on the NAMA Facility’s statistics page.
