The Mitigation Action Facility successfully closed its 2024 Project Outline Phase on 31 July, marking another significant step forward in the global effort to achieve sectoral decarbonization.

The Call for Projects 2024 was announced and launched on 6 December 2023 during a high-level event at COP28 in Dubai at the NDCP Pavilion. The Call has a significant funding volume of up to EUR 100 million, reinforcing the Facility’s commitment to supporting high-impact climate action projects.

Following the concept assessment process from March to May, a total of 26 applicants were further invited to develop Project Outlines. A total of 24 Project Outlines were submitted by the 31 July deadline through the Open Application Platform, representing a strong global engagement from 19 different countries.

The energy sector dominated the submissions, with 16 Project Outlines targeting this sector, representing 67% of the total. Five submissions focused on the industry sector, accounting for 21% and three submissions targeted the transport sector, representing 13% of the total.

The Mitigation Action Facility would like to thank all the applicants who submitted their Project Outlines. Their commitment and innovative approaches are critical to advancing global mitigation efforts. The diverse origins of the project outlines, spanning 19 countries, illustrate a collective drive to achieve the goals set out in the Paris Agreement and beyond.
