Video: The Mitigation Action Facility’s complete project cycle

The Mitigation Action Facility releases annual Calls for Projects during which the most ambitious and feasible climate change mitigation projects are selected for funding and technical support. This process includes the following phases:

  • The Concept Phase: The project idea is structured into a clear Concept that explains the mitigation challenge, proposed solution, expected emission reductions, financing approach, and alignment with national climate and sector policies. The aim is to check feasibility and ambition and decide which ideas move forward.

  • The Detailed Preparation Phase (DPP): Selected Concepts are developed into full Project Proposals with detailed technical design, financial mechanism, implementation arrangements, and stakeholder agreements. This phase prepares everything needed for a funding decision and successful start of implementation.

  • The Implementation Phase: The approved projects are carried out, including all planned investments, policies, and capacity development activities. Progress and emission reductions are monitored and reported, while risks are managed and impacts sustained beyond the funding period.

This following video details the complete project cycle of Mitigation Action Facility projects, including the application process.
