This is the End-of-project report of the NAMA project “Costa Rica Low-Carbon Coffee”. The project was commissioned to GIZ in 2013 and implemented between 2015 and 2022, in close coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the Coffee Institute (ICAFE) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), as well as with support from the Fundación Banco Ambiental (FUNBAM) and the Central American Bank of Economic Integration (BCIE).
The report details the activities undertaken by the project team and key public and private stakeholders to meet all project indicators and deliver technical and financial assistance aimed at catalysing transformational change in Costa Rica’s coffee sector. It compiles insights and data from more than seven years of implementation and reflects the project’s contribution to Costa Rica’s climate commitments and sustainable development goals.
