Two new factsheets published: key learnings from final and mid-term evaluations in India and Colombia

The Mitigation Action Facility is pleased to continue its Evaluation & Learning Factsheet Series with two new additions – one based on an Evaluation and Learning Exercise (ELE) and the other from a mid-term ELE. These factsheets transform the findings of project ELEs into accessible knowledge products highlighting outcomes, innovations, and lessons learnt.
This latest release features insights from two projects in our portfolio:
- Colombia Refrigeration (Final)
- India Waste Management (Mid-term)
Both factsheets are now available here: Colombia Refrigeration and India Waste Management
Colombia Refrigeration (Final)
The Colombia Refrigeration project, completed in 2024, aimed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the refrigeration sector. Its final ELE report was published earlier this year, and the new factsheet distills its key findings into a concise and reader-friendly format.

The project achieved impressive results:
- 844,683 tCO₂ mitigated – more than the entire 2023 emissions of Gibraltar
- 3.25 million energy-efficient refrigerators introduced into the Colombian market.
These outcomes demonstrate the long-term impact of well-designed mitigation actions and offer valuable insights for similar initiatives in the cooling and energy-efficiency sectors. Read the factsheet here: Colombia Refrigeration Factsheet

India Waste Management (Mid-term)
Learning does not have to wait until a project ends. The India Waste Management project, launched in 2020, aims to decarbonise the country’s waste sector. Based on the mid-term ELE report published in August 2024, the new factsheet captures progress and insights from the first half of implementation.

At the time of mid-term ELE publication, the project had already achieved:
- 138,544 tCO₂ in emissions reductions, rising to 450,000 tCO₂ by March 2025 (for comparison: higher than Bermuda’s total emissions in 2023)
This rapid increase in impact reflects the effectiveness of the project’s approach. The mid-term factsheet offers early lessons for others working in waste sector decarbonisation.
