Strengthening partnerships at key events in June 2026

June 30, 2026

From 22–25 June, the Mitigation Action Facility participated in a series of strategic events and bilateral engagements during London Climate Action Week (LCAW), one of the world’s largest independent climate gatherings. The week provided a valuable opportunity to deepen partnerships, contribute to climate finance discussions, and advance preparations for the next phase of international climate action on the road to COP31.

A key highlight of the week was the Mitigation Action Facility’s convening of a roundtable on transport enablers, bringing together representatives from governments, development finance institutions (DFIs), and Implementation Organisations (IOs) to discuss practical approaches for accelerating transport decarbonisation. The discussion underscored the need to move beyond individual financing instruments towards coherent policy mixes that create enabling environments for investment. Participants also highlighted the importance of policy consistency, stronger capacities and financial autonomy for subnational governments, and integrated approaches that embed walking and cycling within broader transport investments. Together, these reflections reinforced that scaling investment-ready transport solutions requires long-term planning, coordinated policy action and financing frameworks that support systemic change.

The team of the Technical Support Unit (TSU) to the Mitigation Action Facility also contributed to broader discussions on climate and infrastructure finance. At the Roundtable on Clean Energy and Infrastructure Finance Facilities, organised by Guidehouse, the Mitigation Action Facility shared insights on how dedicated financing mechanisms can help countries translate climate ambition into implementation by reducing investment risks and mobilising public and private capital at scale.

Throughout the week, the TSU engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with strategic partners, building on exchanges initiated during the SBs earlier that month. Discussions with representatives from development finance institutions, philanthropic organisations and multilateral initiatives—including the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), ClimateWorks Foundation, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the UNFCCC secretariat—explored opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and alignment ahead of upcoming climate milestones. Together, these engagements reinforced the importance of integrated approaches that combine technical assistance, policy reform and innovative financing to accelerate decarbonisation while supporting sustainable economic development.

As momentum builds towards COP31, London Climate Action Week once again demonstrated the value of bringing together policymakers, financiers, practitioners and climate leaders to identify practical solutions and strengthen the partnerships needed to deliver ambitious climate action.

Beyond London Climate Action Week…

…the Mitigation Action Facility has remained actively engaged in international climate dialogues and knowledge-sharing activities. Earlier this month, the TSU convened a networking event on the sidelines of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SBs) meetings in Bonn. Read more here. On the sidelines of the SBs, the TSU also took the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of partner organisations through bilateral exchanges.

While Mónica Silva González represented the Mitigation Action Facility at an International Energy Agency (IEA) workshop on energy efficiency, presenting lessons from the Mitigation Action Facility supported PotencializEE project in Brazil and highlighting pathways for scaling energy efficiency investments among SMEs.

The TSU has also continued to foster exchange and learning across its project portfolio through a DPP learning exchange, the bi-annual Virtual Project Meeting, and a recent project visit to Namibia, creating opportunities to share experiences, strengthen implementation, and identify lessons for future climate action.
