Behind every transformational mitigation project lies a network of partnerships that continually evolves to help ensure its success. From governments and development banks to technical experts, project implementers and delivery partners, collaboration is at the heart of the Mitigation Action Facility’s approach to turning climate ambition into bankable, country-driven action.
Our Annual Report 2025 highlights how partnerships continued to shape the Mitigation Action Facility’s work throughout the year. More than 70 institutions across the climate finance ecosystem engaged with the Mitigation Action Facility through 14 international events, 10+ (virtual) project exchange formats, and two in-person Advisory Committee meetings, strengthening dialogue, fostering peer learning, and creating new opportunities for collaboration.
These partnerships span every stage of the Mitigation Action Facility’s work. They help build a strong pipeline of ambitious Project Concepts, connect countries with technical expertise and finance, strengthen knowledge exchange across the portfolio, and support projects throughout implementation. In 2025, the Technical Support Unit further expanded collaboration with multilateral development banks, climate funds, national governments, technical partners, and the private sector to accelerate ambitious mitigation action.

What do partnerships look like in practice?
During the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB) sessions in Bonn, we asked partners and stakeholders why collaboration matters for scaling climate action, from co-creating project concepts to bridging the gap between climate ambition and implementation.
The conversation continued at London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2025, where partners reflected on the importance of collaboration across the climate finance ecosystem and shared perspectives on what is needed to unlock greater impact.
Together, these conversations reinforce a simple message: effective climate finance is built on trusted partnerships. By bringing together governments, financial institutions, technical experts and Implementation Organisations, the Mitigation Action Facility helps create the enabling environment needed for transformational mitigation action.
