Leading the way in transformative climate action: The Mitigation Action Facility publishes its Annual Report 2025

July 13, 2026

We are pleased to share the Mitigation Action Facility’s Annual Report 2025 in a new digital format, providing an overview of key developments, achievements, and impact over the past year.

It highlights major portfolio milestones and project stories from around the world, showcasing progress towards sectoral decarbonisation through innovative financing, strong partnerships, and people-centred approaches. The report also covers the Mitigation Action Facility’s ongoing evolution as a credible climate finance platform, as well as its role as a Knowledge and Learning Hub.

“As the urgency of climate action continues to grow, so too does the demand for ambitious, scalable solutions. Throughout the year, we strengthened our portfolio of transformational mitigation projects across the energy, transport, and industry sectors, supporting partner countries in turning climate ambition into tangible action.”

–  Philipp Munzinger, Head of the Technical Support Unit (TSU) to the Mitigation Action Facility

Key developments in 2025

By the end of the year, the portfolio comprised of 66 projects across 38 countries. In 2025, 35 projects were actively supported, including 16 projects receiving fully funded Proposal development support, 17 projects in implementation, and two discontinued projects. More details on portfolio developments and Call for Projects.

Learning from implementation increasingly informed strategic decisions, improved processes and supported replication and transformational change across the portfolio. With 6 Evaluation & Learning Exercises, 12 mitigation support assignments, 16 financial mechanism services, and 20 GESI support services, continuous learning and adaptive management remained central to portfolio implementation at the Mitigation Action Facility.

In 2025, the Mitigation Action Facility also continued to expand its digital infrastructure and knowledge dissemination efforts to strengthen learning across the portfolio and beyond with 109 knowledge learning products produced and 334 knowledge sharing events organised.

Finally, guidance documents and learning-related policies were developed to guide activities of the Mitigation Action Facility portfolio.
