From milestones to people: Explore the projects behind climate action in our Annual Report 2025

Every milestone tells a bigger story.
The Mitigation Action Facility’s Annual Report 2025 is more than a snapshot of the past year: it’s an invitation to explore how climate action is delivering tangible results for people, communities and partner countries around the world. Presented in a new interactive digital format, the report allows readers to move seamlessly through examples from our portfolio, discovering key achievements, project highlights and the stories behind them.
The chapter “project milestones from around the world” brings together highlights from across the Mitigation Action Facility portfolio. Readers can explore how our projects are advancing cleaner transport, accelerating the energy transition, supporting industrial decarbonisation and strengthening enabling environments for long-term climate action. Each highlight shows an example how progress on the ground is contributing to transformational change.
Together, these project highlights demonstrate that climate action is about more than reducing emissions. Across our portfolio, projects are supporting governments, businesses and communities in innovating solutions, developing local capacity and creating new opportunities that will continue to generate benefits well beyond project lifetimes.
But the story doesn’t end with the Annual Report.
Our latest story from Nepal illustrates how these project milestones translate into real experiences for the people driving change. In “Same roads, new charge: Parbati’s journey into Nepal’s electric future” readers meet Parbati Shrestha, who has spent nearly two decades driving Kathmandu’s iconic electric Safa Tempo.
Today, through the Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal (SET4NPL) project, she is training to become an electric microbus driver – demonstrating how Nepal’s transition to cleaner transport is creating new opportunities while ensuring that the shift to electric mobility is inclusive and people-centred.
Parbati’s story reflects a theme running throughout the project milestones chapter: behind every achievement are individuals, institutions and partnerships working together to turn ambitious climate commitments into lasting change. It is these human stories that bring the work of the Mitigation Action Facility to life, delivering results that matter – not only for the climate, but for the people at the heart of the transition.
