We are excited to announce that we have received 527 Project Concept submissions in the first stage of the Call for Projects 2025. The high quality and diversity of these submissions reflect a strong commitment to sectoral decarbonisation, and we look forward to seeing how they evolve into full-fledged projects within the Mitigation Action Facility portfolio.

At this stage, we are already anticipating the impact of the projects that will receive our support in 2025, further strengthening our portfolio and advancing our mission of driving transformative climate action.

As part of the submission process, all applicants were required to specify which of our three priority sectors their projects target. Of the eligible submissions, 62% focus on the Energy sector, while the remaining projects are evenly distributed between the Industry and Transport sectors.

Of the eligible submissions, more than half, 52%, are from the African region. 29% of submissions are from the Asia and Pacific region and 15% are from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). A smaller percentage, 3%, are targeting countries in Europe. Uniquely, this year 1% of the Project Concepts submitted target a cross-regional selection of countries.

We appreciate the enthusiasm and innovation demonstrated in these proposals and look forward to the next phase of project selection!
