Portfolio overview
Since its establishment (formerly as the NAMA Facility), the Mitigation Action Facility has provided technical and/or financial support to a total of 66 projects across 38 countries. This represents an increase from 60 projects at the end of 2024 to 66 by the end of 2025, a growth of 10%.

In 2025, 15 projects were approved for the Detailed Preparation Phase (DPP), in the DPP, or undergoing Project Proposal assessment. At the same time, while 20 projects were either approved for or already in implementation. By end of the year, one project had been completed, and two projects had been discontinued.

Funding decision of EUR 100 million for the Call for Projects 2025 taken
until Feburary 2025
The Call for Projects 2025 attracted strong global interest, 527 Project Concepts submitted from more than 95 ODA-eligible countries
until May 2025
Assessment of 412 eligible Project Concepts by the TSU and external assessors and selection of 23 Concepts for Outline Phase

Development of Project Outlines based on the selection during Concept Phase,
including Outline development support for 9 projects

Development since November 2024 and submission of 6 Project Proposals from the Call for Projects 2023 and 2024

Assessment and selection of 5 projects (Brazil, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Philippines, Viet Nam) from the Call for Projects 2025 to enter the DPP
As the first global project and first structured fund in the portfolio, the Multi-Country – SCAF III was selected under the fast-track pathway, bypassing the DPP
November 2025
Official launch of Call for Projects 2026 at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, and approval of 2 projects for implementation from Call for Projects 2023 and 2024 (Colombia and Kazakhstan)
While previous Call for Projects remained unaffected, several refinements and new features were introduced for the Call for Projects 2026.
